I can manage 12 by putting all 10 fingers plus the heels of my palms on the
screen. Not sure how useful this is, but it's possible.

Interestingly, iOS (the OS used on the iPad) allows for up to 11-point
gestures. That's 11 points of contact on the screen. We had a long
discussion about how one would even manage 11 points of contact, and came to
the conclusion that both hands plus a nose was about the only convenient way
to do this :^) Perhaps a child trying to look through the "window" of an
iPad...
