I've had no problem and no slowdown on a win 7 64 bit system. In fat it
flies. Good luck.

The installer is a third-party one. I'm using the latest version (I think)
and the installation process does nothing out of the ordinary. i.e. Darned
if I know what's wrong.

This is to avoid a potential Windows stack overflow problem that was
plaguing users before. Although the solution is not optimal, it does fix the
problem. I will attempt to find a better solution in the future, but it's
low on my list of priorities right now.

dialog appears, hangs for several seconds, even briefly showing a '(not
responding)' message sometimes, before finally resizing appropriately and
displaying the normal 'do you want to save your plan' dialog message. Also,
once the final dialog is displayed I notice that the main window completely
redraws in the background.

Windows 64 appears to be a sparsely-populated minefield. Have you tried
setting AP to use the Win XP compatibility mode? That might, or might not,
help.
