[APBeta] AstroPlanner V2.0b80 released

Actually I have had the repaint problem for a long time even before b80.
This is also with Windows 7 64. The install did hang but then I am used to
that and just let it get on with it. It usually has something about a script
not working dialog which pops up. This does not happen when I launch the
downloaded exe rather than the Firefox download window.

One thing the new framework hasn't fixed, the installer still goes into
lala land for five minutes on my machine before coming up. :/ It really
is in limbo, doesn't show up in Task Manager even as a process.

On the 'good news' side, almost everything looks better (less flickering
and crazy repainting). I have not run across any of the text issues you
mention so far.

One new oddity, when the program comes up, it draws at a fixed smaller
size, then resizes the horizontal dimension to the 'saved' size and
repaints, then finally resizes the vertical dimension and repaints a
third time.

Another oddity, when I exit the program, a small blank 'closing
document' dialog appears, hangs for several seconds, even briefly
showing a '(not responding)' message sometimes, before finally resizing
appropriately and displaying the normal 'do you want to save your plan'
dialog message. Also, once the final dialog is displayed I notice that
the main window completely redraws in the background.

Both of these are 100% consistent over repeated tries.

(Windows 7 Ultimate x64, intel i5 processor on an ASUS motherboard with
nVidia GeForce 9500 GT video.)

PS. Maybe 'Saint Steven of Cupertino' does have a valid point about
using frameworks vs. writing directly to the underlying OS. But as I
keep pointing out, the alternative is to have fewer programs available
on your platform of choice, sigh.

Mark,
First I'll say that I'm a believer in "default usually works"! Having said
that...
In my "out of the box" HP, I don't have any of the "hang-ups" that you
mention.
I just downloaded and installed b80 in about two minutes. I do see the
screen re-sizing, but it happens in less than a second. I do get a dialog
box on closing that it is saving my document, but I only see it for a couple
of seconds.

Me thinks that you have gremlins!!!
