I'm probably not going to implement anything here, since it would be
very complex to deal with styled text fields, etc. Meantime, as Robin
(?) pointed out, you can put URLs into a user field.

Edit->Preferences->General->Spelling Checker. Uncheck the Inline
Checking option.
There are issues with this. What I will probably do is default in-line
checking to OFF. You can still do "manual" spell checking using the
right-click/contextual menu. Unfortunately the widget I'm using leaves
a lot to be desired, and the vendor is not very responsive.
