Tim.
I have place a few comments below. Remember that APV2 is still Beta and we
should keep thing in this forum so Paul will know what works and what
doesn't.

Subject: Re: [APBeta] Unable to Connect to POTH

have previously brought this up and it is still unresolved... I apologize
for bringing it up
again and only do so as I continue to be frustrated with this problem.

Unable to connect to POTH Hub with AIPV2.

MaxIM DL connects just fine to the POTH Hub and controls scope quite well
via the POTH Hub.

1) Open POTH (or open AIP 1st, makes no difference) and have POTH connect to
scope.
No, don't do this. open APV2 first and let AP pop the POTH handset window.
If AP does not open the POTH handset window then there is a disconnect in
where Windows thinks the ASCOM resources and where they actually reside.
Maybe a Vista bug.
2) never any indication that AIP is connected to POTH; even though the
Telescope selected is "POTH Hub"
which is simply the name of the resource I created.

3) Click on the Connect to telescope box
Do this as the first step. Don't push the connect button on the POTH
Handset window. APV2 will attempt the connection. If you see a red and black
window like thing cover the grayed out "Slew to Object" button, Un check the
connect to telescope in APV2. You will see all the numbers disappear in the
POTH handset box. Try the connect to telescope again. Mine always displays
(V4.0) after it connects up. Does not matter what flavor of scope firmware.
If successful go ahead and connect the second app.
Get Error message: No Response from Telescope Mount Controller.
I get this after APV2 crashes on any subsequent restart after the crash.
Relogging onto windows fixes this. This I think is a Vista bug as it seem
some memory is never recovered until a log off or restart.
Click OK and pgm takes me to the Resources page for Telescopes

4) I named the telescope "POTH Hub" as the resource name and selected as
the Computerised Mount
"ASCOM: ASCOM Driver within the Telescopes Tab of the Resources Page. I
have tried the
configuration option as both unkown and as a Cass/Schmit.

Then I clicked on the Edit box next to the Computerised Mount
Description "ASCOM:....."

I then get the edit page for the ASCOM Product......:

First Option is ASCOM "Mount Type" When I click on this I get a run
time error

    after choosing the SELECT box.

The Bottom Option is ASCOM-Specific "Computerised Mouint being
controlled" I have tried both

both the LX 200 Classic (which my mount be) as well as unkown with no
positive

response as far as connecting to POTH is concerned.

No other options have been choosen or altered (have I missed one?)

Concerns: Why I can't connect to POTH

There does not appear to be any other boxes/options for me to check
within the RESOURCES page and none (for this purpose) appear to be
within
        the Prefferences Page.

Run Time Error returned when choosing the "Select" button after
selecting
"ASCOM Mount Type" after selecting "Edit" option for POTH named
Telescope resource.

HELP- truly getting a heavy case of frustration with this... either AIPV2
has a bug (do

have a real concern RE the run time error described above) or these is
something, proably

rather simple, that I am overlooking (or possibly both).

Does any one have any suggestions. I have heard from two folks who thought
they had it working.
One discovered that they did not, and was kind enough to supply detail,
while the other person has not come back to me with specific steps.

I am still uncertain as to whether or not there is anyone out there who has
this working? But, Ii so I would sure appreciate some help.

Paul.... I hope you will at least have some input on the run time error,
along the way, which I have previously brought to your attention.... can
understand you are a busy person and no sweat on time and understand you
will get to it when you are able to deal with.
