[APBeta] AP is very slow (V2.0b31)

Well I just tried AP 2.0b32 on both Mac OS X (2.6GHz Core 2 Duo + 4GB
RAM) and WinXP (Same CPU, 1.2GB RAM) with a plan open containing the
entire NGC catalogue (7840 objects), Fast visibility update and
Highlighting on. Both OSes reported AP using c. 16% of CPU time. If
you change the Visibility update rate to "Manual" it drops to about 2%.
Let's see if your problem goes away with 2.0b32.
