[APBeta] Logging in AP v2

As I mentioned to Jeff t'other day, I am (as we speak) making changes*  
to the observation and session record formats. I'm hoping that this  
won't cause any nastiness, but I can't guarantee, at this stage, that  
it's wise to do any logging in V2. Give me a week to complete the  
changes, then things should be relatively stable.
