[APBeta] Windows crashes

With you on suspecting something since a35. My personal suspect (based
purely on the position of the moon and chicken bones scattered in the
backyard) is something to do with redrawing; double-buffer processing
maybe? Just had b1 instant crash on me. It had been left alone for 3
hours, selected the task-bar icon, instant crash to desktop. Didn't
even get to display an AP window.
