[APBeta] Windows crashes

OK, I just found a smoking gun.

If you expand a plan window horizontally until the (recently- 
introduced) date/time panel appears, and then shrink it again until it  
disappears, the app does a hard crash. Reproducible. Let me see if it  
happens on the Mac...

Yes it does (and provides a crash report that's marginally helpful).  
That will make it easier to track down.
