<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;"> This
observing plan, compiled from <i style="">Burnham’s
Celestial Handbook, </i>is intended to be useful for small telescopes, perhaps
up to 10-inch. While there are other plans that have everything in Burnham, to
have combined all these in one plan would be rather unwieldy, numbering in the
thousands of objects. Based on my own selections, this plan includes about 1150
objects, which will give the observer plenty of objects to choose from. And of
course other objects can be added to suit the observer’s needs.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;"><span style=""> </span>For each constellation easily visible
from my observing sites (40 to 45º latitude), I included all Messier and
Caldwell objects as well as all NGC and IC objects that appeared to be bright
enough for interesting observing. For most galaxies the cutoff was 12<sup>th</sup>
magnitude. For some objects, I have inserted brief notes from Burnham’s lists
into the notes already present from the various catalogs. For multiple stars, Burnham’s
lists were perused for interesting stars that were bright enough and close
enough to be interesting. This includes stars with a wide range of separations,
brightness and colors. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
