[APBeta] an obscure bug in importing?

Yup. Changing it to "Parameters1.txt"  activates the save button.

I'm guessing you're right that it's some sort of Unicode thing at the start of the file, as the bogus characters are invisible in a text editor.

Writing the plan file directly via Python and then using 'Refresh Objects from Catalogues' to fill in the missing fields worked great by the way. I love the way AstroPlanner stores stuff as sqlite files. Very versatile.
