That particular problem (the stall at startup) is probably resolvable by resetting preferences (hold down Shift at launch). However, the hard crash is the same as about 50% of folks are seeing. I've added some debug code to the next release, and I will hunt around locally for others with Macs that might exhibit this behaviour. So far I have not seen a pattern that would explain this.
