I have seen this behaviour myself, but haven't applied myself to resolving it since it comes and goes.

I dunno how big your image database is, but a copy of it would help immensely. (use Help->Where's My Stuff to locate and "reveal" it). You can send via e-mail - I can accept large attachments (well, within some reasonable limit, I guess).
I currently have the app in pieces on the floor trying to locate a bug in the telescope control mechanism. Once I have that fixed and reassembled, I'll attempt to reproduce your bug.
