Hi Paul,
I definitely would prefer a combination of e and f. (so a 4th option to tweak the size)
Thanks,
Inge

Even if nothing has changed in preferences/catalogues it seems to go to identical processes every time. Although I really appreciate the plan wizard feature, I rarely use it. Isn't it possible to have a possibility to skip the wizard threat except if you want to use it? I know I can uninstall many catalogues, but that would be a bit of a reocurring hassle to me.
Yes, I could do that. Several options are possible.
a. Switch it off completely.b. Speed up the process. Currently, on Windows, it has been slowed down in an attempt to make the app usable during the construction process. I could get to run a lot faster at the expense of not being able to do anything else.c. Only let it work when the app has been idling for say, 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I currently don't have a method of detecting "idleness" reliably.d. I could pass off the job to a background app, which would be far less intrusive. Problem is getting around Windows' weapons-grade security in all cases to do this.e. Add a preference with three settings: 1. Off - see (a), 2. - Slow (as it is now), 3. - Fast see (b).f. Currently the catalogues are processed by increasing size, which means a lot of them are processed fast up front, and the largest catalogues are not considered. I could add a preference that allows that size to be tweaked up or down.
(e) and (f) would be the easiest to implement.
Just wish threading worked better on Windows. Mac does not seem to have the same problem.
I'll look into it.
