I'm running XP and telescope is being controlled through EQMOD if that helps.  Perhaps it has something to do with the way the EQMOD hub wirks?

I have not had this experience. I am using b83 on Win7 32-bit, and am able
to disconnect and re-connect at will. One possible difference is that I've
been running it with the logging on, mostly just out of curiosity.

I don't think so (i.e. I can't think of a reason why AP would want to hang
onto the scope indefinitely - unless it had fallen in love or something :^).

Sounds like a bug to me. I'll have a look at the code. Sigh.
