With regards to ID #3236 and your expressed interest in the non-angle scenario, I did some applied research. The position angle for NGC247 (pa = 171 deg) is mentioned in the notes, but it does not appear (as anything other than pa = 0) in the table. Call it serendipity; Call it what you wish. But, the NGC catalog figure given in the notes matches the Deep Sky Field Guide to Uranometria 2000.0 (EPOCH) for sky chart tables GX #306 and GX #307; it is pa = 172 deg here. Does this change your motivations?

Title
Orientation of NGC247
Description
There does not seem to be a consensus as to the orientation of NGC247. Herschel and Caldwell have it rotated 90deg from how Herschel-I, NGC, and AP DSO have it oriented.
Developer
Analysis
This is because several of those catalogues do not have a position angle defined (and hence use 0 degrees). I suppose I should think about discriminating the non-angle case.
Resolution
Fixed. Galaxies now have a semi-major-axis bar pointing in the direction of the position angle. If no position angle is specified, no bar is drawn.
