Yeh, I suppose I could do it with multiple copies of the app, each  
with a single plan doc open, but then there's all sorts of other stuff  
to deal with, and integration of multiple docs is challenging.

Well, if both plans are using the same telescope, they can both  
connect at the same time (I believe - I'd have to check the code).

Yup. Also, you might be controlling remote scopes at different sites,  
etc.
