[APBeta] Behavior of object type pull-right

On the Objects tab there's a Type textbox down at the bottom.  If I click on the little pull-right menu to the right and chose a different type, it appends it so that I now have two types.  I almost always want to replace.  (For instance, the Hickson catalogue has everything typed "Galaxy" instead of "GalClus".)

Is there a reason it does an append?  Is there some other workflow where that is more common?
