Nothing happens. The observations still hold the original resource  
name. It just means that things like magnification, etc. can't be  
computed. For this reason there's a checkbox next to each resource in  
the Resources window. By switching this checkbox off, you are  
effectively disabling the resource without removing it. It can still  
get used for calculations, but no longer appears in any lists of  
resources, popup menus, etc.
