[APBeta] Originating plans for observations

I definitely want to see which plan I used to create an observation but I
can see where it would be a programming headache if the plan is later
changed, renamed or deleted.

For my purposes, I could store the plan name in a simple text field or a
user field without any programming logic to make sure the plan stays
associated with the observation. However, it would help if there was an easy
way to 'plug in' the plan name so I wouldn't have to type it manually.

Also, for my purposes, I only need this capability on the session header
record, not on each objects observation record (see attached screen shot).

How important do you guys consider the ability to be able to locate
the plan from whence an observation was made? This "legacy" feature
still remains in V2, but I'm torn between tossing it (since in its
current form it's somewhat fragile) or revising and improving it.
However I can't really see much point. Feel free to educate me.
