OK, there's a bug :^( AP V2 refuses to install UCAC2 or USNOA2 from CD-
ROM, claiming that the catalogues are only available on CD-ROM. I
guess I'll fix that for the next release.

I spent many hours yesterday banging my head against the Windows
version. I'm now even more baffled than before. I removed
(temporarily) the Date/Time widget, and things improve slightly, but
I'm still getting mysterious crashes and exceptions. If I use the
debugger, everything works.

I thought the 100%-reproducible crash-to-desktop you get when
displaying Saturn (don't bother, drawing planets doesn't work, but I
have fixed that) was a big smoking gun, but it's another Heisenbug
(trying to debug it makes the bug hop around or disappear). I thought
mebbe the compiler was cranking out bad code, since the crash happens
in the middle of some hairy math code. However, calling the same code
elsewhere works fine. I'm beginning to suspect some other code is
somehow corrupting the stack or memory. This should not happen, in
principle, with the IDE I'm using, but is. I will continue to pull my
hair out.

A very frustrated,

Paul R.
