Heh. I got the 'reset your prefs' dialog, selected 'restore defaults', the splash screen
flashed and the app went into la la land just as before.

 > Might it be your security software getting in on the act?
I doubt it, I use Zone Alarm and it always prompts me before doing anything (or 
preventing anything).

 > What are you running? WinXP sp2?
Yes, with all the latest 'Microsoft Tuesday' updates.
